Street Level

Street Level is an Emmy award-winning web series that focuses on getting to know our city by honing in on specific streets, roads, and avenues to learn about its deep and rich history from the people who know them best.

Running with the idea on focusing on streets I decided to create a dynamic animation that would best show the intertwining streets and roads that make up a city. Streets are grungy so I added a looping grunge texture in the background to give it a bit more life.

We created intros for two 30-minute specials that aired in NYC and Florida. I decided for these intros to use line work to add some dynamic animation to the footage and to keep the same feel of the original web series intro.

All episodes of Street Level had a map animation like the two you see here. The map would always start city-level then zoom into the particular location we were focusing on in that episode. There were also various full-screen graphics like these newspaper clippings.
